Sounds like the blade needs sharpening. I have a carpenter friend carefully sharpen my blades. You have to be careful not to take off too much material. If you live near Arkansas send your blade in to norwalk for sharpening. You might consider an extra blade.. I have an almost new Norwalk 235 blade on ebay right now..check it out. If your juicer is in good shape it might be worth buying a manual from norwalk. Even though the manual is for more currant models it will give you a lot of understanding. Also read over the entries on this site.
